Through My Lens: Food & Flavor

I absolutely love food photography. There’s something magical about watching a meal come together—from the first ingredients hitting the pan to the final, artful plating. But for me, the process doesn’t stop there. Once the dish is ready, the real fun begins: setting the scene. Choosing the right backdrop, selecting cutlery and serving spoons, adding napkins or a well-placed glass of water—all these elements help tell the story of the meal. It’s a creative process that brings warmth and personality to each shot.
Then, of course, there’s the smell. As I move around the dish, shooting from different angles, the aroma fills the space, making the experience even more immersive. And if I’m lucky enough to be photographing a dish made by my lovely friend Jeunesse, then I know there’s a special reward waiting at the end: the chance to sit down, savor the meal, and unwind in great company.
Jeunesse and I have already produced two issues of a magazine together, a project I’m incredibly proud of. We will be collaborating again soon and today I found myself reflecting on those first issues and wanted to share some of the food shots I captured for the very first edition.
I hope you enjoy these delicious visuals! Jeunesse's website has alot of wonderful recipes and the recipes that these photographs accompany can be found in issue one: Click here. Let me know if you try any of them and send me your food photography shots when you do!
